How to fix a Virtualcol Dash 8-100 flaps issue

Postby WIF0096 » Tue Sep 04, 2018 10:33 pm

Perhaps some of you noticed that Dash 8-100 from Virtualcol has some issue with flaps:

When flaps 15° or flaps 35° are selected in flight, an airplane tends to pitch up violently.
That's because the flaps extending time is way too short (only 4 seconds from 0 to 35°!).

You can fix it in the "aircraft.cfg" file
located in the "...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Vcol_dash8q100" directory.

Just find the "[Flaps.0]" section in the "aircraft.cfg" file,
and then change the value in "extending-time = " line, from 4.000 to 30.000, or perhaps even to 40.000.

Code: Select all

[Flaps.0]
type =  1
span-outboard =  1.500
extending-time =  30.000
system_type =  0
damaging-speed =  220.000
blowout-speed =  300.000
lift_scalar =  1.000
drag_scalar =  1.000
pitch_scalar =  1.000
flaps-position.0 = 0.000,0.000
flaps-position.1 = 5.000,0.000
flaps-position.2 = 10.000,0.000
flaps-position.3 = 25.000,0.000
flaps-position.4 = 35.000,0.000

And if the original sound of flaps from Virtualcol is now too short, you can try this one:
